my last observation

                                                           my last observation in the writing center
I was exited that this was my last observation.My last observation was short, it was only for 30 minute.The student seems like she didn't wanted to be in the writing center but she had no other choice, The student was in a angry mood . even though the tutor introduce me to the student she didn't give me a smile like other students did during my other observation. Even the tutor was in a serious mood. He just checked the grammars and told the student that everything else is perfect. The tutor was kind of lazy he wanted the session to end early so he ended the session 30 minutes early I was just sitting there and didn't felt comfortable at all because the tutor wasn't feeling comfortable that i was there observing.At the end the tutor asked me if this was helpful I was like it was just alright.I asked the tutor does all the tutor just focus on the grammars, He was like it is based on the student what they are having problem with. If the paper has to many grammatical errors we help them to correct it. Most of the time the students come only for grammatical correction. Before leaving I said thanks for sharing some information with me.. Over all it was great experience observing different tutor..I learned different things from different tutor during the session.

3rd observation

                                                                      Third observation
my third observation was different from the the last two observation I did in the writing center.The tutor introduce me to the student.The tutor and the student had good relationship with each other because they been working together lot of times.The  tutor correct the mistake the student had by himself and the tutor said " we don't usually do that but I know her for long " I was like okay. They were very formal with each other. The students problem was that she was repeating her self so many times over and over again. It was a research paper for the history class, The tutor shared very useful information with the student regarding to her topic. As the tutor was making correction he was also telling me why this is in correct. The tutor also asked me questions, if I didn't knew the answer he would tell me, which I believe was really helpful . I really learned some new vocabulary during this observation.During this observation i think its better to work with the same tutor every time coming to the writing center so they can know your weakness very well, And the tutor know whats your main problem is.At the end of the session the tutor and the student seemed very confident about getting a good grade on the paper because they have been working hard on this assignment for long time.The tutor give some good advice to the student. The tutor said before writing a paper about any topic we should research a little because its better to have some kind of idea about the topic we are writing about. I liked that idea and I think from now i will follow the tutor advice in the future. Sometime its better to follow other peoples advice it might be helpful for us.

filming

                                                                     Filming 
   
         yesterday we had the chance to film about what we decided to perform. First we came up with an idea what we are going to perform. Then we decided who's going to act what part. After that he wrote the script. We contact each other by texting and meeting in the classroom. It was good that we didn't had to communicate with each other out of class. The time we had was enough to produce a film.
 There was three character in the scene we film. The characters were two students from english 101 class, and a tutor. Our task was to show the positive side effect of tutoring two student at one session who had different problem with there paper. Basically our scene was about two students going to the writing center and getting help from a tutor, The students were in the same classroom but had different problems. One student had problem with lower order concern, and the other one with high order of concern. We use a empty classroom as a writing center. We also use table in the front with 2 chairs. The students comes in the classroom and introduce themselves and tell whats we need help with. the tutor manage his time and worked with two student in one session of tutoring. Our scene ended by asking question to the tutor. The scene ended by asking question to the tutor . The tutor answered our question in detail and it was very helpful. I was one of the student who was in the scene. I was feeling so nervous because it was my first time acting and someone filming me. It was hard for the first time, but we practice over and over again I felt very comfortable and confidence in myself. It was very fun and i enjoyed being a student and going to the writing center. I was having fun while we are filming. It was a new experience for my self because i never got a chance acting out. i was shy at the beginning but at the end i wanted to act more scenes . By doing this assignment i developed more confidence in myself. i though i wouldn't able to do this at all, but it went really well. After finishing filming, when i sat the recording my voice was really low it was because i was shy and didn't wanted to do this at all. . We took our time to do filming. I though It was easy it will just take us 5 minutes , but I was wrong it seems easy but it wasn't. We had to do certain parts many times to get it perfectly. At the end I was glad that we finally got to the end and the video came out good as well. I am much satisfy with the video. I hope my group get a good grade on this assignment.

          Today in class we watched clips regarding to high school and middle school student suspended from school because they get involved in criminal issues. Student in high school get suspended because they don't follow the rules of the school I was surprise to see many young youth are getting involve in criminal issues and going to prison. I think the reason why student get suspend  and go to prison is because of some stress they have in life.According to the clip as someone said " children are children we have to make the children become good adults " The adults are the role model for the children in society. Adults should set up good example for the children for being a good person. To avoid criminal issue and student getting suspend from school,  the environment we live in should be good enough.The environment effect the children alot. It effect there behavior as well. I believe the school rules should be strict enough so the student stay in fear of doing anything wrong and don't get suspend from school.

second observation at writing center


                                                                      Second observation

My second observation was different from the fist one. The student came in and it seems like he was really excited and happy to be at the writing center. The tutor intrude himself, then he introduce me to the student that i am here to observe the student was new in lagcc. He is going to take the CAT W exam so he was at the writing center to write a good unique essay.The tutor asked the student what was his assignment was all about.The student seems to understand what was his assignment was about, He had problem having argument about his thesis. His main problem was that he couldn't give reasons and evidence to support his thesis.  it was so awkward when the tutor ask the student to give a reason why he choice this thesis and the student didn't say anything instead he was laughing for no reason. So the tutor helped the student to find reasons and evidence from the article. During the session most of the time the student was laughing and smiling for no reason, I didn't understand why he was acting that way. The student needs help where to use the right quote in the essay.He also need help with having a clear topic sentence in every paragraph. He had some really useful and good information but didn't know how to organize the information in a good way.The tutor give the student very useful hand out it was worksheet that shows the correct for-mate of an essay. The tutor was really helpful because he explained the student in details when to use quote and how to have a strong thesis with strong evidence, It seems like the tutor really cared about the student passing the CATW exam. I think its a good idea to give students hand out which will help them develop a good essay. Some hand outs can be really useful for student. The tutor shared outside information with the student by giving the worksheet.

first day of tutoring eng 101 students



                                                 experience of first day tutoring

          Today was my first day of tutoring eng 101 student. I introduce my self to them. I was able to tutor two student at a time. I was feeling so  nervous about it. There assignment was about biculturalism. They needed to use resource in order to write the paper, So i told them about the library data base that will be very helpful for there paper. On the other hand the two student were talking to much to each other and I didn't know what to do or say to them because it was my first day working with them. They had some good ideas about biculturalism  and i told them to include all the ideas they had in there paper. It better to use outside information as well. I didn't talk much because i didn't know what to say. Most of the time I was just listening to there conversation about different topics. I was feeling so un comfortable that I forgot to ask there names. They told me they are not smart and intelligent student but by the conversation they were havingI figured that they are intelligent and creative students. But i didn't knew much about there topic so i couldn't help them much. I told them where they can find useful information. The two student had there outline basically it was free writing. They wrote down ideas they had about biculturalism. It was really quiet interesting ideas that they brain storm of free writing. They need to think about a good thesis.I suggest them to use these ideas and key words in there paper to look strong enough. I strongly suggest them to have strong argument with example and evidence to support there claim. The students that i was working with were very active and hyper. They just couldn't stop talking which kind of annoyed me in some way. well it was that bad tutoring and sort of helping the eng. 101 student. I even learned something from the student. One thing that a student say that everyone is learning. Thats true we are still learning. Experiencing As a tutor we are still learning as much as we can. None can ever stop of learning new stuff everyday.  I am glad i am having experiencing tutor student and also observing the writing center as well. Having new experience  helps us having more knowledge about something.

Today was my first day observing the writing center. It was a new experience for me. The tutor introduce me to the student that was there for help, so she can feel comfortable that i am there. The student explained the tutor in  detail what was her assignment was all about. The student was very tense that her professor  made many comments to fix the paper.The student assignment was to write a paper about the video they watched in class.The tutor went through the paper and saw that they were many sentence structure errors, grammar issues, organizing the information in a well written paragraph, also there were some repeated phases.Then the tutor read the paper with the student together. The tutor main focus was on her grammar and sentience structure.While the tutor was reading the paper with the student, the tutor was telling the students to fix the mistakes that she made. The tutor basically was telling everything to the student what needs to be fixed , the students just fixed the mistakes that the tutor told her without asking any question.The students paper was much longer and the tutor said " this never going to end, but we are almost there " the tutor got annoyed by fixing the students grammar, But the tutor was still calm and patient.The student payed full attention to the tutor.She was really focusing on what was the tutor saying to her.I really like that.At the end of the session the tutor tell the student what she needs to work on the most. The tutor even asked me if I had any question. The tutor felt comfortable of me being there and observing.The student comment that this tutor was very helpful then other tutor in the writing center. It was a good experience for me observing the writing center for the first time.
